Accoya modified wood

Working in the construction industry with contractors for over 20 years, We have seen considerable change in what architects are specifying when it come to timber and in recent years they have discovered the benefits of Accoya too. Ticking the environmental box is also great news for new buildings.

Accoya sustainable wood is the timber industry benchmark for performance and sustainability. Accoya has a 50-year warranty for above ground applications.

The History of Accoya

Accoya wood is made by Accsys at its plant in Arnhem, in the Netherlands.  Accsys transforms fast-growing, certified sustainable wood into Accoya wood through its proprietary acetylation process. The result is a high performing product with sustainability credentials that exceed those of man-made, intensely resource depleting and heavily carbon-polluting alternatives. This gives the world the choice to build sustainably, offering new opportunities for the built environment.

Accoya the Sustainable wood

Performance and sustainability together are what makes Accoya so unique. The trees selected to make Accoya are sourced from fast growing, abundantly available sustainably certified forests. Accoya sustainable wood offers an alternative to slow growing and often unsustainable hardwoods, as well as many other carbon intensive and depleting materials such as plastics, aluminium and concrete.

Sustainability Benefits of Accoya

Accoya’s outstanding sustainability credentials start with the sourcing of the raw material. Accoya only uses timber from FSC® certified forests, that have to prove they are managed in an environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable manner.

These forests are a natural, renewable solution for global environmental problems such as climate change, ecosystem destruction and landscape deterioration caused by increasing consumption.

Accoya Decking

Accoya is a highly proven product with testing from many different perspectives, on a worldwide basis. Many tests have been conducted in real life conditions, over many years. Accoya is so reliable that for many years it has been, and continues to be used by scientists as the benchmark against which other treatments and modified timbers are measured.

Finish benefits of Accoya

A number of coatings, colours and textures have been applied extensively on Accoya products for over 10 years. The real world performance over this time has matched up to the high expectations built up through extensive testing programs to give you the finish that is required.
