Decorative turned spindle for staircase balustrading. This stair part is designed to fix between the handrail and base rail of a stair balustrade or landing balustrading.

This is often described as a 2 inch or 2” spindle – a period timber staircase spindle.

The most popular wood species for stair spindles is Oak (and we offer American Oak spindles and European Oak spindles). Maple spindles, Walnut spindles or Ash stair spindles are also very good options. Although this product range is not intended for exterior use, should you decide to use our profiles outside - Iroko spindles are highly recommended for external applications.

Common Uses

Wooden spindles are often used in balustrading for stairs and landings. They can also be used to form decorative screens and room dividers. They are normally held in place with handrails and baserails but they can be morticed into a floor or base.
